Pippo Alu

In Loving Memory

Alu, Filippo “Pippo”

November 7, 1929 - January 16, 2026

Filippo (Pippo) Alu passed on to his heavenly home on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Pippo was born in Cinisi, Italy, on November 7, 1929 and immigrated to the United States (St. Louis) in 1958 with his wife, Mimma Alu. He had a long life, filled with much happiness and love but he also faced many hardships during his young life. As a child in Sicily, he lived through the horrors of World War 2 and the extreme poverty that followed it. Once he immigrated to the U.S., he was able to build a good life for his family by working as a master tailor, eventually owning 2 different tailoring businesses. In his later years, he continued his trade by working at a few notable men’s suit stores in St. Louis.

He is survived by his children: Sam (Kathy) Alu, Lina (Russ) Odegard, Vito Alu, and Davide (Nancy) Alu, as well as 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by several siblings: Rosario Alu, Maria (Benny) Passalacqua, Emilia Carollo, Carlo (Sondra) Alu, and Aldo (Susie) Alu, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife Mimma Alu, his parents Salvatore and Lina Alu, and his siblings Pino, Santina, and Enza.

Pippo loved his family and friends fiercely and he showed that love through his constant support, his quiet kindness, and his happy smiles every time he visited with them. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity in his memory.
