Bartoni

In Loving Memory

Bartoni, Joan B. (nee Bender)

June 15, 1935 - December 28, 2025

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Beloved wife of the late Donald L. Bartoni for 57 years; loving mother of Don (Dena) Bartoni, Angie (Dave) Vogel and Gina Marty; adoring grandmother of Madison “Maddie”, Devin and Dominic Marty, Sydney and Sean Vogel; dear sister of Janet (the late Bob) Schubert, Carl “Bud” (Ruth Friar) Bender and the late Virginia “Ginny” (Frank) Cornelius. Our dearest Godmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Joan was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan whose love for the game began in childhood, when she would walk to Sportsman Park to watch her beloved Cardinals play. That passion never faded; she followed the team faithfully through the 2025 season, cheering them on with the same joy she had as a girl.

A gifted and accomplished seamstress, Joan designed and sewed her own wedding dress and shared her talent by teaching sewing lessons to many in the Carondelet neighborhood. During her years at Southwestern Bell her creativity and skill earned her first place in a sewing contest, an achievement she took great pride in. She was a devoted employee of Southwestern Bell and later AT&T, from which she retired with pride.

Above all else, Joan’s greatest joy and deepest devotion were her grandchildren. She was their most enthusiastic supporter—present at every sporting event, recital, play, Mass, and celebration, never missing a moment that mattered to them. Joan loved fiercely, gave freely, and embodied unconditional love in its purest form. Her life was a gift, and her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.

Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel 10151 Gravois Rd. 63123 on Friday, January 16 from 9-11 am. with a Prayer Service at 11:00 am. to Assumption Catholic Church for 11:30 am. Mass. AS A LIFELONG CARDINAL’S FAN, JOAN AND THE FAMILY WOULD APPRECIATE YOU WEARING YOUR FAVORITE CARDINAL’S APPAREL TO THE SERVICES. Interment will be held in private. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital appreciated.

Condolences

  1. Gina, Don, and family,
Darrell and I are so sorry for the loss of your mom. Losing your mom is a big loss, one that seems to become more profound, not less, as time goes by. For sure, your memories of your strong, vibrant mom will give you many smiles and laughs, which will surely be a comfort to you.
Know of our prayers for you all now and in the sad days to follow!
    Much Love,
    Darrell and Terry Eversole
P.S. Gina, I’ll have to ask you about your mom’s SWBT work as my (Terry) dad worked for Bell, too! Maybe they crossed paths!
