In Loving Memory

Betty Jean Sedlacek McKenna

passed away on January 11, 2017, at age 89. She was the beloved wife of Donald J. McKenna for more than 60 years until he passed away in 2007; loving mother of Barbara Sullivan (Michael), Linda McKenna (Michael Wendland), Carol Nelson (Warren), and Peggy McKenna (Edie Karras); proud grandmother of Timothy Sullivan (Elyssa), Kevin Sullivan (Cheryl), John Sullivan, Jessica Wendland Julio (Carlos), Sara Wendland, Daniel Nelson (Priya), Kevin Nelson, and Galen McKenna; and great grandmother of Thomas Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Elizabeth Sullivan, Anya Sullivan, Austin Sullivan, Connor Sullivan, and Ameerah Nelson.

Betty was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 10, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Sedlacek. She was the beloved aunt of her three dear nieces, Kathy Hensler, Susie Duggan, and Nancy Mellor. She loved and was loved by her cousins, and was a good friend to many.

Betty was a member of the Great Books Foundation, serving as a discussion leader for her local chapter. She was active for many years in the St. Louis Genealogical Society as she researched and wrote much of her family’s history. She retired to Conway, South Carolina in 1996 where she lived until 2007. She subsequently lived in California, Florida, and Minnesota with her daughters.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Kutis Funeral Home, Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd, St. Louis: Visitation at 10:00 am; Funeral Service at 11:00 am, followed by Burial Service at Sunset Burial Park, 12:30 pm.
