Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1939. In 1956, she immigrated to the United States with her parents, Julia and Daniel Vegh, and together they made their home in St. Louis.
She soon met the love of her life, Roger Boehlow, and they married in 1958. They had three children: Roger Jr. (Teresa), Robert (Tammy Stoff), and Rod (Rachel). Ida cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother to Hanna Vogt Boehlow.
In addition to raising her family, Ida built a successful career as an independent insurance broker. Later in life, she devoted her time to volunteering at Whitehaven, the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site, where she shared her love of history with the community.
Ida was a woman of many passions. She found joy in hiking with friends, and she was a devoted supporter of the arts and nature. She was a frequent visitor to the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Art Museum, and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra—places that reflected her appreciation for beauty, culture, and lifelong learning.
Ida’s life was marked by resilience, generosity, and a deep love for her family and community. She will be remembered for her warmth, her adventurous spirit, and the grace with which she lived each day.
