Betty L. Brand (Buschart), of St Louis, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at the age of 85.
Wife to the late Earl Brand; beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Lauretta Buschart; devoted mother of Marc E. Brand; family to Linda J. Luera (Edgardo) Sanchez.
Betty was born in St. Louis, baptized, attended elementary and graduated from Southwest High School. She then went on and graduated in 1960 from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Betty also earned her qualification as a Marksman of the National Rifle Association.
Betty’s career began as a Sales Representative for her family’s business, Buschart Brothers Printing Co. After the family sold their printing business, she continued on with BT Office Products International, Inc. as an Operations/Product Specialist. She worked for them until she retired to care for her ailing mother.
After retirement, Betty devoted her time to volunteering over thousands of hours at the Saint Louis Zoo. It was a passion of hers to advocate connecting people to animals. Every year Betty participated in the Zoo Parents Program adopting a “Chimpanzee”.
Betty loved the holidays. She would record happenings of the day and the opening of gifts on her tripod every year. Family and friends’ Christmas trees would fill with her gifted Saint Louis Zoo ornaments. Another activity she enjoyed was to fish with her son Marc at the Club House in Gasconade MO.
But lastly- during the holiday season, Betty always made sure she showed up with her cherry chiffon!
SERVICES: A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 7th at 2:30pm at Saint Paul Churchyard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty L. Brand’s name to the Saint Louis Zoo Friends Tribute Fund, https://stlzoo.org/give/tribute-fund.
