It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gus Demos on December 6, 2025. Gus is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Colin) McPherron and Elizabeth (Gordon) Reel; his granddaughters Ellie, Olivia and Caroline Reel, and Delaney, Cecelia and Emily McPherron, and Meagan Becker; great grandchildren Arya and Levi Becker. He is also survived by his brother Ted (Helen) Demos; nephew Jim (Terry) Demos; and niece Anne (John) Silvestri.
He was preceded in death by his wife Angela (Beia) and parents Kimon and Perssefone Demopuolos.
Gus was born on April 14, 1932 in St. Louis to Greek immigrant parents. He grew up in St. Louis City and was a proud graduate of McKinley High School. As a student, he was active in sports and student government. He made life-long friends and continued to plan reunions and get togethers for McKinley alumni long after his graduation.
He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg on a football scholarship. After being drafted to the U.S. Army, Gus returned to St. Louis and began his decades long career in steel pipe and tubing sales with much success. In 1992, he co-founded Victory Steel Products Corporation where he worked until his retirement at the age of 90.
In 1973, Gus married his sweetheart, Angie. Together they built a beautiful life traveling, spending time with friends and family and raising their two daughters. He could not have been more proud to welcome each of his granddaughters into his life.
Gus loved sports. He played basketball religiously for decades and loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, the football Cardinals (when they were in St. Louis), and all Mizzou games. He also loved doing yardwork. He mowed his lawn and picked up his own leaves until the very end.
While Gus was extremely frugal, he was also known for his incredible generosity, kindness and quiet humor.
Gus was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church his entire life. He loved his Greek heritage and his Church community.
Gus will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, Papou, brother, uncle, koumbara, and dear friend to many.
