Dickey, Carl Ronald

June 13, 1934 - June 23, 2025

Carl Ronald Dickey, son of Carl Harry Dickey and Marian Elizabeth (nee Reinhardt), was born June 13, 1934. He attended Mallinckrodt Grade School, Southwest High School and graduated in 1956 from Southwest Missouri State University. He was also a proud Marine serving from 1952-1972, both active duty and reserves.
He married the love of his life, Janet Virginia (nee Sandvoss) on November 26,1955 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children. Kevin (Karen), Michael – former wives (Tami) (Julie), and Carla – former husbands (Stephen) (Michael). Carl’s grandchildren are Kelly, Katelyn, Joshua, DeeAnn, Mehgan and Kayla (Brian). His great grandchildren are Jonathan, Lennon, Austin, Elliott and Colter. He is also survived by his sister Mary (William), as well as other extended family and friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his daughter Carla who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2018 and more recently his brother-in-law William (Bill) Scanlan.
He loved playing sports in high school, especially football. He played tennis and pickleball in his later years. He worked for Safeco Insurance Company for 36 years and retired in 1995. He loved to travel, stay active with tennis and enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended Gethsemane Lutheran Church for 25 years and also Peace Lutheran Church for 25 years. He would have been married to his wife Janet for 70 years this November.
Carl was a man of faith who loved the Lord, gave willingly of his time and resources and loved his family dearly. He was a caring “people person” who maintained a wide network of friendships that he faithfully continued to nurture through the years. He peacefully departed this life on June 23, 2025 at the age of 91(this was also the 7th anniversary of the death of his daughter, Carla).
Services: Visitation Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Road) then to Peace Lutheran Church (737 Barracksview Road) on Thursday July 10, 2025 for visitation at 9:30 AM until service at 10:30 AM. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
