  1. So sad to hear about the unexpected passing of Dan. He was a loving man with an engaging personality. I will miss his smile and big laugh. My prayers go out to his wife Dahlia who loved him so much..

  2. I only saw uncle Dan during Thanksgiving or a few other times a year if I was lucky, but despite my trouble remembering names I always remembered my Uncle Dan.

Something that stood out to me was that he had this kind of warmth to him, even though we were very different and had different interests, he always responded to me kindly. I wasn’t surprised to hear that Uncle Dan and my dad grew up together, because that sort of friendly warmth is something I also feel from my dad. Even now if I close my eyes I can clearly hear his distinct way of saying hello, which the sort of whimsy I’d expect to hear from Santa Claus if he drank bud light. I do have a regret, and that is that he only ever knew me as a boy, and I never got to meet him now that I’m an adult.

Dan was a good man, something that this world always needs more of. Though he was taken from us early he was lucky in that I believe he was surrounded by people who loved and cared about him.
