Lois-M-Dumey

In Loving Memory

Dumey, Lois M.

(nee Mossinghoff), 80, passed away on Thursday, April 7,  2022.  She was born on June 4, 1941 in St. Louis, MO.  Beloved wife of Norman F. Dumey for 48 years.  Loving mother of Joseph (Melissa Watson) Dumey, Michele (Danny) Paisig, and Marie (Wes) Ruehl.  Doting grandmother of Teddy Ruehl.  Dear sister of Jeanne (Ken) Hubbman, Don (Ginny) Mossinghoff, Barbara Mossinghoff, Mark (Marilyn) Mossinghoff, and Mary Beth (Ron) Gill.  Dearest aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to so many.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Lillian (nee Otto) Mossinghoff.

Lois grew up in Jennings, MO and attended Corpus Christi Grade School and Rosati-Kain High School.  After graduating in 1959, she was called to enter the order of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and took the name Sr. Miriam Mark.  While in the convent, she got her master’s degree in Chemistry and also completed some additional doctoral work.  She taught at St. Alphonsus Rock, and later at her alma mater, Rosati-Kain.  She left the order in 1972 and later met and married the love of her life, Norman Dumey, in 1973.  Together they raised 3 wonderful children and owned and operated a commercial HVAC business, Adams Furnace Co, Inc.  In 1995, they bought their dream home in St. Louis Hills and spent countless hours at Francis Park.  She was a proud member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in South St. Louis City and was very active in her faith community, including the ACTS retreats.  She was a proud grandmother and simply adored her grandson.  In her spare time she loved to garden, read books, crochet, and do crossword puzzles.  She was loved by everyone she met.

  3. Prayers for the family. I had the honor of meeting Lois several times when dealing with her husband Norman on business. She was such a sweet lady I wish I had known sooner about her passing. May God bless her.
