Richard “Dick” Joseph Eichhorn, 87, devoted husband, proud father, and adoring Grandpa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished.
Born on March 11, 1938, to Felicitas and Christian Eichhorn, Dick grew up alongside his beloved siblings, Eugene Eichhorn (the late Mary Jane), Jeanette V. “Jan” Ferguson (the late Edward), and Sr. Rebecca Eichhorn, C.S.J. From a young age, Dick learned the values of faith, hard work, and service to others. He graduated from Saint Louis University and went on to serve in the United States Army Reserves, carrying the discipline and camaraderie he found there throughout his life. He later earned his CPCU ARM certification, furthering a career marked by dedication.
Dick married the love of his life, Sylvia (Money) Eichhorn, and together they celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage. Their partnership was the cornerstone of a warm, lively home in which they raised four children:
- Michael and Melissa Eichhorn, and their children Sarah and Payton
- Christine and William Harper, and their children Lauren, Christopher, Regan, Luke, Nick, and Audrey
- Rick and Margaret Eichhorn, and their children Jack, Owen, and Mary Ellen
- Mary and Dave Cass, and their children Connor, Carter, and Camrin
Whether proudly repping his grandkids’ schools, adding his own twist to a game of cards, or celebrating a Cardinals win, Dick found joy in the simple moments shared with his family.
Professionally, Dick built a long and respected career in the insurance industry, including founding his own company, International Placement Service, Inc. (IPSI). He was known for his leadership and generosity as a mentor. Even in retirement, he continued to share his wisdom, most notably through his daily “Food for Thought” emails, offering reflection and encouragement to the community.
Dick’s life was a testament to faith, love, and the simple joy of being together. His humor, generosity, and kindness will continue to guide the family he loved so well.
Services: A memorial mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church on July 7th at 10:00am with reception will follow. The family will appreciate your presence there.

When I first met Mr. Eichhorn I recognized that he was, what my father always referred to as the “genuine article”. Rarely found in today’s world. His Eichhorn family and friends have suffered a true and profound loss.
