  5. My family left St. Louis in 1961, so I would only see Gary when we came back for visits, which was almost every year. My brother Mike and I would love to go down to his basement to listen to music. Gary loved all kinds of music and I was so impressed by his vast collection. He was always really nice to me.
Rest in Peace, dear cousin. Donna

  9. I’ve only tonight found out about Gary’s passing. My friends Laura, Grace and I loved Friday nights at Zone 8 and would arrive as soon as the doors opened at 9:00pm. Around 9:15, Gary would dash in with an armload of new records from West End Wax down the street. He always played Severed Heads’ “Hot with Fleas” for us. Once I told him we were bringing my mom along the following week and that she was an Erasure fan; sure enough, just like the generous host he was, a fantastic Erasure megamix debuted in his set the night she visited. The last time I saw him was a decade ago while visiting my dad in St. Louis. He was as gregarious and smiling as ever. Gary, you were such an important part of our young lives. Thank you.
