In Loving Memory

Johnson, Anthony B. “Tony”

Anthony B. Johnson (Tony) 48

St. Louis, Missouri

Tony died suddenly on December 8, 2018 at DePaul Hospital.

Tony was born on December 17, 1969 in San Diego, California to Karen and Michael Johnson.

Tony grew up in St. Louis.  He loved all sports.  As a child, he spent a lot of time playing soccer, baseball, basketball and swimming at The Boys Club.  Later in life, he enjoyed volunteering there.  Tony always loved camaraderie and being part of a team.  He played sports at Bishop DuBourg and Prep South High Schools.  As an adult, he helped coach, referee basketball and umpire baseball for many years throughout his life.  He just loved the excitement.  Tony was also a huge fan of gambling.  He won some, he lost some, but he had a passion for taking chances, whether it be betting on a horse at the track or a blackjack table at the casino.  There was just something about the rush of winning that he could never get enough of.  Tony was loved and he left us too soon, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  But his boundless generosity will live on in his final act of selflessness with his hope to save lives, as he chose to donate his organs to Mid America Transplant.

Tony is survived by his heartbroken mother, Karen and Stepfather Avery Myrick of Des Peres; his loving sister, Pamela Smith of Maplewood; his children, Taylor, Emily, Carrie, Zack, Brianne and Brenden; his aunt Stacy, uncle Mike and cousin Alex Geary of Kirkwood; his uncle Gary Clark; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Johnson, Robynn Smith, Katie Myrick, Charles and Jesse Smith; his cousins, Danny, Dennis and Courtney Clark; Greg, Ryan and Justin Guthrie, Jeremy and Rhonda Clark; and friends.

Tony will be joining family that preceded him in death including his father, Michael Johnson, his grandparents, Norma and Ed Holliday and Ted and Becky Clark; his aunt, Sandy Guthrie and uncle, Bruce Clark.

There will be a graveside private service for family and friends on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:30 am.

Line up inside East entrance next to Schnucks.
