Lebanowski, M.S., Father Gerald A., 90, a Missionary of Our Lady of La Salette, died Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Lansdowne Nursing Home in St. Louis, MO. Father Lebanowski wasborn in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 15, 1934, son of Ignatius and Anne (Stankiewicz) Lebanowski. He attended grade school at St. Casimir Parish School in Milwaukee, WI and High School at the La Salette Seminary in Olivet, IL. He continued on to college studies at the Seminary. On June 20, 1954, he entered the La Salette Novitiate in Olivet, IL. He attended Gregorian University in Rome, Italy where he studied Philosophy and Theology. His First Profession was made in June 21, 1964 at the La Salette Novitiate in Olivet; and his Perpetual Profession was on October 1, 1957 at the La Salette Shrine in France. Fr. Lebanowski was ordained on November 29, 1959 in Rom, Italy.
His first assignment was as Assistant Pastor of St. John Parish in Red Lake, Ontario in 1960. In 1961, he was assigned as Perfect and Professor at the La Salette Seminary in Olivet IL. He was the Pastor of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Georgetown, IL from 1963-1968. From 1968 to 1970, Father ministered at Milwaukee House in Milwaukee.
He was elected as Provincial Superior in 1985; and in 1994, he was elected to the General Council in Rome, Italy. During these years, he also offered retreats and spiritual direction. In 2001, Father was assigned to Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, where he ministered until his final move to the La Salette community in St. Louis, Missouri.
In addition to his La Salette Community, Father Lebanowski, M.S., is survived by his brother, Norm and Sharon Lebanowski of Hubertus, WI and by their children: Greg and Kristin Lebanowski of Woodstock, GA and grandchildren. By Beth Marie and Vance Hawkins, of Hubertus, WI., and grandchildren.
His sister, Rita and Dave Krutz of N. Fort Myers, FL, and by their children: Jeff and Amy Krutz of New Berlin WI and grandchildren. and by their children, Kevin and Dawn Krutz of North Fort Myers, FL and grandchildren.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 3014 Oregon Ave., 63118, at 10:30am. Calling hours will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 3014 Oregon Ave., 63118, on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 9:30am until 10:30am. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
