Richard “Dick” Lee Meyer, age 89, passed away peacefully on Dec. 25, 2025. He had just moved back to his home state of MO to be near his siblings and extended family and did manage to have a few days with them before his unexpected passing.
Dick had a successful fundraising career as an executive at several major universities and then enjoyed many years of retirement on Cape Cod. He especially loved shooting at the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club, where he was the president of the board for many years and enjoyed many close friendships. Dick also enjoyed traveling. His most recent trips were river barge cruises with his son Adam in France and Scotland. Dick also loved good cuisine. But most of all he loved a good bourbon and cigar while telling a good story.
Dick is survived by his son Adam (Kim) Meyer and his grandson Gavin Meyer, by his siblings David (Barbara) Meyer, Joann (David) Ross, Margie (Jim) Eisenbarth, and Jean (Craig) Duwe, by his sisters-in-law Marilyn Meyer and Lece Meyer, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Leslie, his brothers Donald Meyer and William Meyer, and his parents William Gordon (Grace) Meyer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club, PO Box 331, Monument Beach, MA 02553.
