Robert Stark Mullen, son of Edward and Marguerite nee Stark Mullen, was born September 20, 1932, in St. Louis, MO.  He was baptized during infancy and as an adult he confirmed his faith on Palm Sunday March 22, 1970, at Peace Lutheran.

He attended the St. Louis public schools and graduated in 1949 from Kirkwood High School.  In 1953 he received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Washington University where he was a member of the Social Theta Xi Fraternity and member of the Professional Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity.  Following graduation, he served 1953-1955 in the United States Air Force until early release May 23, 1955, to facilitate enrollment at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

On December 23, 1953, he married Marion Dale Gaddis with whom he experienced 57 years in the nuptial estate until her passing in 2010.  To this union were born three children: Mark Mullen who passed away in 2024, Stacy L. Mullen who departed this life in 2011, and Michael (Sonya) Mullen, who with the granddaughters Hannah Jo Mullen and Hailee Elizabeth Mullen, survive, alongside Louise Marie Mullen widow of Mark Mullen.  Preceding him in death are his brothers: Ned Mullen and Larry Lee Mullen with Ned’s widow Peggy surviving.

On February 16, 2013, Bob married Mary Lou nee Henke Johnson who now survives with her children (the stepchildren); Terry (Bill) Dalton, Tom (Shana) Johnson, Jim (Lori) Johnson, and Bob (Sandy) Johnson, along with their children and grandchildren.

During his career Bob was employed by Lapham Hickey Steel, where he remained until his retirement at the age of 63 in 1995.

Over the years Bob was founding Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 267 and served as Philmont Scout Ranch St. Louis Area BSA Expeditions Leader 1974, 76, and 87.  He also was Beasley Elementary School PTA President 1969-1970.  At Peace Lutheran he served as Elder Chairman in 1995, Congregational Chairman 1996-2002 and 2007-2008, and as its Annual Audit Leader for 2016 and 2017.  He also was a member of the Board of Managers of Carondelet Branch YMCA and was it’s appointed liaison to the St. Louis Urban League.  Following his January 2016 move to Laclede Groves Retirement Community he from 2019 until 2025 served as Treasurer of the Lutheran Convalescent Home Auxiliary.

Relatively good health was enjoyed by Bob until recent medical health challenges, including pneumonia, which necessitated brief hospitalization before returning to Laclede where on January 17th he was placed on EverTrue Hospice.  It was there on January 19th that he peacefully departed this life, having attained the age of 93 years, 3 months and 30 days.
