John Frederick Muschong passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. John was born on January 17, 1944, in St. Louis to Frederick and Christine (Doboshan) Muschong. After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, John went on to work with his father at Muschong Metal and Manufacturing. He continued to work in the engineering field until his retirement.
In his free time, John loved to draw up plans and build items such as elaborate yard features and furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing musical instruments. However, John’s favorite pastime was traveling, which often involved visiting his “friend” Mickey at Disney.
John shared his zest for life with his wife, Carol (Burle) Muschong, for over 57 years.Together, they had two sons: Jeff (Wendy) Muschong of Imperial and Greg (Molly) Muschong of Festus. John was exceptionally proud of his six grandchildren: Jessica Schulze, Jamie (Alec) Schroff, Jordan Schulze, Logan Muschong Arnold, Milly Muschong, and Peter Muschong. He was also a great big brother to Joan (Wayne) Becker of Oakville and Tina (Dave) Dial of Lampe, Missouri. John leaves behind a huge “fan club” of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
