Sharon Marie Petersen (née Mueth), age 63, of Wildwood, Missouri passed away on November 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. Sharon was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Evelyn and the late Eugene Mueth on March 31, 1962. She was the fourth of five daughters and loved her family immensely. She spent her entire childhood in the same house in Crestwood, Missouri where she attended St. Justin Martyr Catholic School. She was a proud graduate of Cor Jesu Academy in 1980 and the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1986 with a degree in computer science.
Sharon met her future husband Charles “Chuck” Petersen in a Calculus III class and it was almost love at first sight. Sharon and Chuck dated throughout college and were united in Holy Matrimony on November 14, 1987. They lived in St. John, Missouri where they were blessed with two beautiful girls, Deanne Nicole in 1991 and Jennifer Marie in 1994.
Their growing family moved to Wildwood, Missouri in 1998 where she lived until her death. Sharon was a devoted stay-at-home mom and very active in her children’s lives, including volunteering at their school, coaching volleyball, and supporting their many sports and activities. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed visiting the rustic “Petersen Farm” with her family. Sharon’s role later transitioned to caring for her parents, visiting her granddaughters, and maintaining a weekly “sister chat” with her family.
Sharon experienced an initial brain aneurysm in 2011 and recovered completely. She suffered another brain aneurysm in 2024 which resulted in partial paralysis and loss of speech. She spent three months working tirelessly in rehabilitation before being discharged into Chuck’s care. Along with continuous caregiver support, Chuck lovingly cared for Sharon at home until she suffered a third stroke and passed shortly after on November 25, 2025.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Chuck; daughters Deanne (Anthony) Winkelmann and Jennifer (Karl) Fuhlbrugge; granddaughters, Riley and Charlie Winkelmann; her mother, Evelyn Mueth, and four sisters, Linda, Patricia, Nancy, and Rosanne. Sharon was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be truly missed but never forgotten. Sharon graciously donated her body to Washington University School of Medicine.
