  3. I was so surprised and saddened to hear of Chuck’s passing. I attended Parks College of St. Louis University with Chuck. He graduated a year ahead of me and was a fraternity brother. He was one of 3 Ryder brothers who attended Parks, clearly influenced by their father who was an airline pilot.

To me, Chuck was inspiring. He made a decision later in life to become a deacon in the Catholic church. This took a lot of courage and is a reflection of the kind of person Chuck was. He served his family, friends and the community with a lot of love and kindness. A Mass will be said in his name at my local church, St. Bonaventure.

I send my condolences to Nancy, Bridget and Brianne, and the entire Ryder family. Rest in peace my friend and brother.

  4. It is with a heavy heart that I reflect on the passing of Chuck (City Boy) Ryder, a person with whom I shared my collage experience. Chuck and I were roommates at Parks Collage of St. Louis University. We were also in the same pledge class, together becoming brothers of Phi Alph Chi. We both shared many life experiences at Parks College beyond.
Chuck was not only a source of inspiration but also a beacon of kindness and generosity with his devotion to the church. He always had a rare ability to connect with people and build personal relationships. I hope his influence will continue to resonate beyond his time with us.
My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, their family, friends and all that are grieving. I will miss him and will forever hold him in my heart.

  5. Thank you Al, Chuck will always be remembered as an uniquely kind soul with compassion for all. He brought joy and peace to everyone as he would sit, listen and just be Chuck in everything he did. God will bless him as he continues to care about others.

  7. I read about Deacon Chuck’s passing in the Review. Just a few weeks ago he brought Communion to me while I was in the hospital and we had a fun visit. I recognized him as the deacon who led XLT Adoration for youth which I attended about 20 years ago. I’m grateful for Deacon Chuck bringing the Eucharist to me many times in my life. We are praying for the repose of his soul. May you feel peace and comfort in this time.
