Sample, Mary L. (nee Tockstein) Thursday January 1, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Floyd L. Sample. Dear mother of Floyd Jr. (Amanda) Sample, Robert Sample and the late Tammy Whiteside. Dear grandmother of Falynn Sample, Landen Sample, Lance Schmidt and Liam Sample. Dear sister of Mike (Teresa) Tockstein, Cindy (Rick) Barge, Patricia (Don) Milne and the late Cathy O’Brien. Our dear aunt, great aunt. niece, cousin and friend.
The family would like to thank the staff at Eldon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Mary.
Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday January 6 at 12:00 noon. Interment Shepherd Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society appreciated. Visitation Monday 5-8 pm.
My dear Aunt and Godmother, who was always there for me during childhood,
During adulthood her and Uncle Leroy were just a phone call away.
While I was pregnant with my first in 2003 I was craving turkey – mind you I was vegetarian. I had the best Thanksgiving with her Leroy and Mom. Eating meat for the first time in 13 years. Faisal was working so I drove a plate to him.
Later Faisal and Leroy bonded having endless conversations while I was able to spend time with Aunt Mary.
Not long later Uncle Leroy passed away.
Then Aunt Mary moved away.
Mom (Cathy) died not long after.
We continued to talk on the phone for hours every week.
Throughout the years we stayed in touch.
Slower and fewer each time.
I regret not being able to hug her recently.
I love Aunt Mary and we will miss deeply.
