Carol Ann Winter was given life by her creator and was born on April 8, 1945, the child of God. On May 29, 1945 she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a Child of God.
On March 22, 1959 she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Lemay, MO. Carol received the gift of her beloved spouse, August Winter, Jr, on June 12, 1964 and they shared 34 years together, until Gus fell asleep in Jesus on February 14,1999. They were blessed with two children: Debbie (Joe) Gearon and Jeff (Vicki) Winter. Nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren are blessed to have called Carol, “NaNa”. Carol was a loving NaNa to Cassie (Breeann) Sumner, Breah (Zac Holmes) Kreitler, Pastor Zachary (Hilarie) Kreitler, the late August Joseph “AJ” Kreitler, Alyssa (Kevin) Khammanivong, Jospeh (Lindsey) Kreitler, Brittney Winter, Jeffrey (Kayla) Winter and Alex Winter. She was also a cherished Great-NaNa to AnnMarie, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Landon, Morwenna, Evangeline, Rosie, Evie and Gus.
Carol was also a loving Sister to Chuck (Brenda) Endermuhle, Dennis (Pam) Endermuhle, the late Dave (Joan) Endermuhle, the late Gene Endermuhle and Sister-in-Law to Mary (the late Rich) Judd, the late Bill (Marilyn) Winter and Jerry (Emily) Winter.
Carol cherished her family and enjoyed serving others. She spent many hours volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader, Den Leader, on various committees for Scouts, working Vacation Bible School at Peace Lutheran Church, and as a classroom helper and room mom/parent while her children were in school.
“NaNa”, as her grandchildren lovingly call her, loved being involved with and spending time with her family! She helped out with her grandchildren at school and assisted with scouting activities. Just like when her own kids were young. She was often seen cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events, or proudly clapping at their dance recitals, choir, band, orchestra, or cheer performances. And, of course, snapping pics of them too. 🙂
Another volunteer endeavor, especially close to Carol’s heart, she shared with Gus. As a former Oncology Patient himself, Gus wanted to “give back” so every year close to Christmas, Carol and Gus would adorn “Santa” and “Mrs. Claus” suits, return to St. Anthony’s with Christmas cards, small gifts, and desire to listen, pray with/for, and uplift patients and their families. They took time to actually converse with each, and weren’t concerned how many days it took. In addition, they felt it important to express gratitude to the Staff and uplift them too.
Even as Carol’s health declined, she took the time to express how she felt to those she loved. She let her family and friends know she loved, supported, and prayed for them! Her kindness and loving ways are an example that live on.
On February 9, 2026, God took Carol home to rest in the arms of Jesus.
Carol was preceded in death by her dear parents, Charles and Marie Endermuhle.
Our loving Aunt, Cousin, Friend and dear dog Mom to Tippy.
Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Carol Ann Winter.
