Hibbits

In Loving Memory

Hibbits, Joshua L.

July 6, 1977 - October 10, 2025

Joshua Lee Hibbits, of Kirkwood, Missouri, passed away on October 10, 2025.    Josh was born on July 6, 1977 to Steven L. And Tricia L. Hibbits in Farmington, Missouri.  He worked as an Account Director at Cushman Wakefield, where he was a well respected leader.

After graduating from Oakville High School, Josh attended and graduated from Mizzou.  He found his career at CW and other companies to be challenging and rewarding.

From a young age, he was known as a bright, talented, and funny individual.  He could cut up and make us all laugh, and also be the most compassionate and supportive person during difficult and challenging times.

Josh was the kind of person who made friends for life.  He had a tight group of friends from high school and college that got together frequently.  They were football fans, poker buddies, vacation partners, party animals, and mutual supports for each other.  He cherished those friendships always and considered them his extended family.

Josh was also an animal lover.  The two dogs and cat in his home lived their best life, for sure.  He was a huge advocate for pet adoption and an active supporter of many animal rescue organizations.

Josh’s daughter, Alana, was the greatest joy of his life and his whole world. They loved going to Mizzou football games together.  He also loved watching Laney swim, do gymnastics, play the violin, excel in school, and act silly.  He excelled at embarrassing her, which she reminded him of frequently.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maxine (aka Cookie Grandma) and Gordon Hibbits.  He is survived by his parents Steve and Susan Hibbits, his beautiful daughter Laney Hibbits, brother Jake Hibbits (Jenni), uncle Bill Hibbits (Karen), cousins Jason Hibbits (Erin) and Joe Hibbits (Nancy), nieces and nephews and second cousins, Brianna, Brent, Madison, Josie, Tucker, Asher and Ryann and many other friends and family.

A memorial visitation for Josh will be at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road on Saturday October 18th from 12 noon until time of service at 2PM.  Following the service, there will be a celebration of his life at Royal Orleans, 2801 Telegraph Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to your local animal rescue organization.

Condolences

  1. Josh and I worked together over the past few years and came to know each other both professionally and personally. Although we never met in person, it was clear that he carried himself with great integrity and warmth. He was a natural leader – someone who consistently elevated those around him and mentored others to reach new heights, myself included.

I was personally inspired by his example and leadership. During difficult times as a new parent, he offered encouragement and advice that was both thoughtful and reassuring.

I’m deeply saddened that his light and warmth will no longer radiate into the world. I hope and pray that his legacy continues to inspire the same passion and purpose that he so generously shared in life.

  3. It is with profound sadness that Katy and I share the passing of our dear friend, neighbor, and former Campaign Treasurer Mr. Joshua L. Hibbits. Joshua was an exceptional person, loving father to his daughter Laney, great neighbor, and friend. He helped me during my last campaign when I really needed it, and we will always remember his support. Our daughter loved pet sitting for him, and he was a favorite client of hers. He had made many important life changes recently and should serve as an inspiration to others, especially how he achieved his fitness goals. I will always remember his support, help, and friendship. God bless Josh, Laney, and his entire family.

  5. So taken aback by this. Josh was always the warmest and sweetest guy, always reached out for a hug at every encounter. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. This world lost a bright light on the day he passed. I hope the family can find some comfort within their many great memories they have of him. Xoxo

  6. I am truly sorry to hear this. Although I only worked with Josh for a short time on one project, it was clear from the outset that he was smart and devoted to the task at hand with a focus on the intended goals. He was organized, respectful, friendly and always easy to work with. The world lost one of the good guys and my thoughts go out to his entire family during this difficult time.

  7. I’m truly sad to hear this I worked indirectly (same company -Gundaker Commercial) with Josh over 20 years ago. Although we had a huge age difference I respected Josh for everything he said and did as a young broker in the biz. He was always friendly and smiling just as the obituary says. God Speed Josh say hello to my Josh and Bob Bush up there and protect the rest of us still here.

  8. Josh will be dearly missed. He was such a warm personality and positive energy was infectious. I always enjoyed chatting with him at work about Mizzou and SLU sports. Wishing strength for his family and those closest to him.

  9. Josh and I have been great friends for a long time. Both being from Farmington, we loosely stayed in touch when he moved to the St Louis area but we really got close after college when he moved in with our mutual best friend Dave. Three young adults probably having too much fun and on our way to trying to figure out life.

Josh turned into one of those friends who you could always rely on. He always greeted me with a big hug and I could feel the sincerity that came with it. Josh was great at reaching out, keeping in touch and he always tried to connect every time there was an opportunity. There’s something to be said about that.

I will truly miss his big smile, warm heart and our fun times together. Rest in peace, Josh. Love ya, brother.

  10. Just as the obituary said, Josh was warm, kind, and funny as hell. No offense to the rest of the Hibbits crew, but he was hands-down my favorite to sit with, share a drink, and vibe to good music. He had a way of making you feel at ease and in the moment, which is something I’ll always carry with me.

Josh also had a legendary talent for talking trash about KU, which Joe and I will especially miss come March Madness. His humor, his heart, and his presence were unforgettable.

Seeing everyone’s posts has been a beautiful reminder of what Josh taught us all: be kind, be present, enjoy each other’s company, and laugh – loudly and often.

Rest easy, Josh. You were one of a kind.

A donation in his name has been made to Reasons Rescue Ranch in Sparta, MO.

  11. Worked with Josh for a long time at Cushman & Wakefield (each went our own ways… and I worked on deals with him when he was on the Panda side)… but more than work, he made you feel like you were his best friend. He was the first to volunteer his time or money when I had a charity or event I was supporting.

He had a giving heart, a huge smile and a welcoming spirit. He made time to listen when we were talking… not just be present, but to listen! We lost a good one when he passed for sure. He was so proud of his Laney and my heart hurts for his entire family. Prayers for all who knew him!🙏
