Joseph Leo Schulte (Joe) joined the angels on February 3, 2022, at the age of 77. He passed away peacefully in his home.
Joe was born on August 13, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri and was one of thirteen siblings that he loved dearly. Joe married shortly after high school and had a family with three daughters and one son.
Throughout his life, Joe made a lifelong career at Laclede Gas as a pipefitter and retired as the business executive for Gas Workers Union Local 11-6. He represented the Laclede Gas workers, which brought him great pride and accomplishment within the utilities industry. As a union business executive, he played a vital role in benefits for union members while shepherding multiple pro-union legislations at Jefferson City and Congress. During his retirement, he volunteered and lobbied for the Deputy Sheriff Association and helped them pass pro-deputy sheriff and law enforcement legislations in Jefferson City. Joe will be remembered for his many accomplishments in work, the union, and the community, and for his devotion to his family and partner.
Joe will be greatly missed by his beloved life partner of 24 years, Willa, his four lovely children Joella, Sarah, Andrew, and Jessie, his precious grandchildren, his partner’s children, Laura, Danny, and Darrin, and his partner’s granddaughter, Sydney and great granddaughter, Vivien.
Funeral Services will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, South County Chapel, on 5255 Lemay Ferry Road on Saturday February 12. Viewing will be from 12-2 pm. The funeral service will be at 2pm. Flowers may be sent to Kutis Funeral Home. The family respectfully asks that all attendees wear masks.
