Gunter, David Anthony
79, of Imperial, MO passed away peacefully with the Anointing of the Holy Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in his home surrounded by family. David touched the lives of f amily, friends and total strangers with his smile and generosity while maintaining his trademark sense of humor to the very end. David was born on November 28, 1938 and is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Betty Gunter (nee Hilgert); beloved father of Jennifer (Louie) Solnosky and Amy (Kevin) Nestor; loving grandfather to Christina and Gavin Solnosky; beloved brother of Mary Beth (Tom) Mickley, Roger (Diann) Vincent, Douglas (Donna) Vincent and the late James (survived by Evelyn) Gunter, Dorothy (Norman) McCullough and Eugene Gunter; our cherished brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
During his life, David was very active in civic and church activites. He was a founding member of the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department and served the community as a volunteer fireman for 20 years. David also volunteered for 10 years with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office. He was a member and active contributor to the American Legion Post 400 of Fenton, St. John’s Catholic Church of Imperial and the ST. Vincent de Paul Society of Imperial. David retired in 1993 from Union Pacific (MoPac) with over 39 years of service. SERVICES: Funeral from KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Saturday, February 11, 9:15am to St. John’s Catholic Church (Imperial) for 10am Mass. Interment St. John’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Catholic Church (4614 Blue Springs Road, Imperial, MO 63052) and designated for use by the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the St. John’s Heirloom Fund. Visitation Friday 4-8pm
