Vince was a man of many talents. In the early years, Vince was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army at Gross Point, MI. After returning from his service in the Army, Vince worked as a mechanic in a service station owned by his brother-in-law Dick Baker. Vince was an excellent mechanic having worked at Forest Cadillac and becoming the Service Manager at Koenig and Weber Chevrolet. Vince owned and operated Mobil Service stations at different times while with us. One of Vince’s most cherished careers was his time as a reserve St. Louis Police officer and then a police officer in the City of Shrewsbury. Upon leaving the City of Shrewsbury Vince started his own cab/limousine/delivery service company (Black & White) where he took great pride in establishing long-standing regular customers from a number of the top companies in St. Louis, the likes of Anheuser-Busch, Monsanto and a Frost Electric where he met Vickie.
Vince had many hobbies and Interest. Vince collected coins; he enjoyed photography; took courses in “how to be a locksmith”; raised honey bees; was a member of the Blue Knights International Missouri VII (law enforcement club) and the Chapter Z Goldwing Road Riders Association motorcycle clubs where he and a Vickie would go on weekend rides; Vince had a passion to go to garage sales and flea markets. One of Vince’s favorite things to do with Vickie was to buy items at garage sales and flea markets and keep some of what they purchased but took most of it to their booth at Soulard Market on the weekends. Vince enjoyed fiddling with computers and electronics-he used to have “ham” radios (Amateur Radios). He was a man of many talents and loved trying new things all the time. His youngest son Phil called it the “Wahby Way” – just figure things out to work towards a positive outcome for all. Vince’s daughter Angela capture her dad’s way of life by thanking him for teaching us “to wander and wonder”.
