  5. I am heartbroken. I remember sitting on my front porch with him when I was in first grade and he was in second grade. That was a long long time ago. As years went by I always loved running into him and getting my bear hug. I am sad those days are suddenly over but I will always cherish my memories of him. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Abeln family, and I will hold you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  7. The “Hammer” taught me more than I’m allowed to write here. Extremely sad to hear someone so knowledgeable and loving has moved on. Dennis believed everything was possible. I’m going to miss that attitude.

  11. Dennis will be deeply missed since i have known him as far back as the third grade when my family moved 2 houses up from the Abelns. Our families spent many years vacationing together at the lake boating, water skiing, and fishing during our school years. Over the years anytime he called or texted he made me laugh and brightened my day especially as we compare stories in the caring of our Moms.

  17. Just heard about Denny. He was such a lovely person. He worked for my Grandpa (“Doc” John Meyer) as a teenager at Made Rite downtown, and then after my Uncle Elmer Meyer sold the company he went with Elmer and his sister (my Mother) Fern Pribula to Colt Industries. He got up to a lot of antics there, and Mother and Elmer loved him. In later years he was a comfort to me after the loss of my beloved Mother. This gentle giant will be greatly missed.

To the entire Family, thank you for sharing Denny with us. You will be see him again.
