September 18, 1937 - November 5, 2023

Robert (Bob) D Adams passed away on November 5, 2023 in St Louis, Missouri at the age of 86 surrounded by his family. Bob was a devoted and caring husband, father, brother and friend. He is survived by his only daughter, Kim Hunt, his son-in-law, Scott Hunt, his sister, Shirley Umstead, and brother-in-law, Harvey Umstead. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Nancy and sister Margaret “Faye” Adams.

Bob was born on September 18,1937 in Jake’s Creek/Plad, Missouri to Wiley “Lester” and Margaret Adams. He started school in a one room schoolhouse at Leadmine, MO. From 5th grade on, he went to Tunas School where he graduated high school in 1955.  Bob’s sister, Shirley, introduced him to Nancy Whitworth in an airport in Springfield in 1961. Bob also joined the Army in 1961 and served until 1963. He moved to St. Louis after the Army to be with Nancy, and they were married on August 29, 1964. They were married for 58 years when she passed away in September 2022.

Bob learned his hard work ethic from growing up on a farm and continued that throughout his life. When asked what he did for a living he would tell people he fixes things. He went to work for Kahler Electric in Buffalo, Missouri and worked for Dependable/Sears as a television and garage repair technician until his retirement.

He had strong faith, a kind heart and a passion for helping others. He would do anything for anyone. Whether it was mowing the lawns of the “old people” in the neighborhood when he was retired, picking neighbor’s kids up from school or the bus stop or taking in their trash cans, he was always willing to help his neighbors and church community. He tried to make people’s lives better.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 12th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the funeral will be Monday, November 13th at 11:30 am at Kutis Funeral Home Affton 10151 Gravois, St Louis, MO 63123. He will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

  1. Bob was the finest example of a loving, thoughtful, and caring Christian man that I had ever have known.
    He set the bar high for anyone to live up to. It is with much love, respect and sorrow that Bob will be missed.
