  7. Jack JJ and I were hired the same month at Webster Groves FD in 1977.
We developed a great friendship from then on. We worked together on the same shift. He was one of the best firefighters I’ve ever worked with and was even a better human being. He would do anything for you. We had great memories together on the job or on the golf course or even at Grady’s bar. I will miss you JJ say hi to my brother Gregg.

  15. I took care of Jack many nights in the ICU while he was sick. Even though I didn’t get to personally know him prior, I got to talk to his family and see all the pictures in his hospital room. The family was so wonderful to talk to, and I am so truly sorry for your loss! Jack and his family will always be memorable to me. Thank you for all your years of service and sacrifice Jack! May you rest peacefully in heaven.

  19. I have had the pleasure and honor to work with John J. Anderson at WGFD from August of 1977 until his retirement in 2013. Over time I have come to know JJ as a man of honor, courage, and integrity. He was a wonderful family man, a hell of a firefighter and a good friend who will not be forgotten.

  21. I am a firefighter also and even though I never got to work side by side with JJ as a fireman, I did work with him and Garry Garrison slinging asphalt on hot summer days. Those are days that I will never forget. We also worked together at Guns and Hoses through the years. What an awesome guy he was. I enjoyed his company every time I was with him. God bless you JJ.

  25. Mary,
We are fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to experience Jack’s “JJ’s” shenanigan over the years, …. the true sense of “life of the party”.
It goes without saying that we will miss JJ on this earth but I assure you that he will always be in our thoughts and when we find ourselves recalling something that puts a smile on our face we will know that in that very moment he is with us in spirit.
He leaves behind supporting, caring friend and family that will be forever touched by his generosity and selflessness.
We are grateful to have had JJ in our life – We love you Mary.
