Richard David Babb was born December 6, 1930 in Mayfield, Kentucky to Abraham Lincoln Babb and Bernice Elevee (Mills) Babb. He was the first of three children and grew up in Mayfield with his two sisters Beverly and Barbara. On October 5, 1950 Richard married Wanda Sue Buntin, also of Mayfield. Richard and Wanda had two children, Sharon and Rick, and lived in Mayfield where Richard worked at a car dealership until their family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Richard resided until his passing. Richard and Wanda were married for 60 years until her passing on November 10, 2010. After Wanda’s passing Richard married Lois Gray of St. Louis, Missouri on November 22, 2014.

Richard loved reading his Bible, hunting, fishing, photography and working with his flowers which flourished under his care. He also loved music and enjoyed playing several instruments as well as listening to Southern Gospel music. Richard generously shared his musical talents, encouraging young musicians and playing in the band at his church for many years.

Richard passed from this life on January 11, 2024. He is survived by his children, Sharon Williams and her husband Wayne of Crestwood, Missouri and Rick Babb and his wife Charlene of Fenton, Missouri. He also leaves four grandchildren: Tara Babb, Audra Babb Hanson and her husband Ryan, Tiffany Williams Vansant and her husband Vince and Jeffrey Williams and his wife Kacy, as well as five great-grandchildren: Ricky Hanson, Zachariah Vansant, Noah Williams, Jacob Williams and Sunshine Williams.

Services: Visitation at Gospel Church (5740 Telegraph 63129) Friday January 19, 4:00-9:00 PM and on Saturday January 20 10:00 AM until service at 10:30 AM. Interment St. Paul Churchyard. A service of KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL.

  1. Best Brother in this world! Lived a Christian life from a teenager until now! Outstanding musician in our Church Orchestra.. Will miss him Greatly every day!
    When my mother died, I was so upset, he told me not to worry, she is sleeping in God’s Bedroom, now he is too. With the rest of my family! Will see them all some day! Love Always💞💞💞💞

  3. We were so sad to hear about Bro.Richard. He was such a fine Christian gentleman. We have so many memories of him playing in the band with us.
