Midge Baker, 87, of Imperial, MO, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Midge was born on August 14, 1939, in Carmi, Illinois, to Roy Perkins and Goldie (Bryant) Perkins. She spent most of her life in Southern Illinois, where she built a home and a family that meant everything to her. Over the years, she worked at Woodlawn Grade School, Endicott Furniture Store, and Mammoth Department Store in Mount Vernon.
Midge loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime member of the Baptist Church, and above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
Midge was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood Baker, who passed away on December 25, 2024, after 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mark Baker, in 2020, who left behind four children: Tony, Heather, Demitri, and Darius.
She is survived by her two sons: Greg Baker and his wife, Tara Cunningham-Baker, of Houston, Texas, and their daughters, Samantha and Alayna; and Tim Baker and his wife, Misty Baker, of Imperial, Missouri, and their children, Orry, Cody, Mikaila, and Hayden. Orry is married to Mollie Baker, and they are the parents of Bennett, Huntleigh, and Boone. Cody is married to David Raymond. Mikaila is married to Shane Kopsky, and they are the parents of Isla and Romey. Hayden is married to Mabree, and they are the parents of Denver, Harvey, and Myles.
Midge will be remembered for the deep love she shared with Derwood over nearly seven decades of marriage, for her quiet devotion to her faith, and for the family and home she nurtured across generations. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her.
The funeral service will be held on September 24th at the First Baptist in Arnold, MO, located at 2012 Missouri State Rd., Arnold, MO 63010. Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. The funeral service will begin at 9:45 AM.
A graveside service will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Flowers and/or donations may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Midge’s name.
Midge’s family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death and that she rests peacefully in heaven in the arms of the Lord.
