Baker, Robert E.

Robert E. Baker  (1934-2017)

Robert (Bob) Baker, age 83 of St. Louis, Missouri passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Dearly loved son of the late Bernice (G’Sell) and Doc Baker, also of St. Louis, Missouri. Bob was predeceased by his dear brother Richard W. Baker.

Bob served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. He was a St. Louis Firefighter and later a Fireman for McDonnell Douglas.  Bob then relocated his family to Southern California to be near his brother and became a Maintenance Mechanic for the Rapid Transit District in Los Angeles County.  Bob loved to golf, sing karaoke, watch college football and explore the Yosemite National Forest.  He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Bob is survived by six children. He is the beloved father of Victoria Mankins (Larry Nickel), Robert (Lynda) Baker, Daniel Baker, Deborah (Robert) Hathaway, Bernice Baker and Steven (Mary) Baker. Step-father to Allen Walters and Kathleen Walters. Dearest grandfather of Christopher (Therese), David (Courtney), Tom (Katie), Luke, Sofia, Nick, Michelle, Katie, Autumn, Daniel (Kristine), Graham, Meghan, Emma, and much loved great-grandfather of Tom Jr. Dear brother-in law to Lois Baker, and revered uncle to Ed (Kim) Baker, Richard Baker, Steve Baker, and Teri (Phil) Toyama. Great-uncle to Jeremy, Corey, Kyle, Sean, May, Tim, Justin and Ginger.  Bob also has left many cousins, great-nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road in Affton, Missouri. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 31, from 4pm to 9pm.  Funeral Mass to be held on September 1, at 10:00am at Assumption Church, 4725 Mattis Road, St. Louis, 63128. Contributions to Cardinals Care appreciated.

  1. Your Cardinals are playing above 500 at the all-star break. And I do not believe a Cardinals pitcher has hit a homer since your Tyson Ross homered off my Kershaw in September of 2018! The National league started the DH 2022-2026 collective bargaining agreement. And Miles Mikolas hit couple homers in 2018! Kinda like Wainwright!
