In Loving Memory

Banez, Joe E. “Titing”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Banez, also known as Titing and Jose, who left us on January 23, 2026, at the age of 85. He leaves behind his children, Earl Banez and Sherry (Rich) Banez-Muth, his grandsons, JacobMuth and Andrew Muth, and his beloved partner, Therry Jacobs; his brother Dr. Manuel (Margaret) Banez and his sister Conching (Crispin) Dela Victoria; his aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Colita Banez, his sister Milag (Benito) Bunagan, and his parents, Soledad (nee Eamiguel) and Martin.

Joe was born on August 20, 1940, in the Philippines. In 1968, he made the brave journey to the United States and initially settled in Jacksonville, Florida.  In 1971, the family moved to St. Louis, where Joe continued his career as a computer programmer. After a successful career, Joe spent the last 30 years enjoying his retirement and nurturing a passion for golf.

Joe’s family and friends were always at the center of his heart. His loving wife Colita whom he married in 1968, passed away in 1996.  For over 20 years, he found companionship and love with Therry. Joe was immensely proud of his children and grandsons.  He relished spending time with them and celebrating their accomplishments.  Joe was also an active member of several social and golf groups such as Diners and the Chicken Wing group where he cherished the camaraderie and friendships he found there.

Joe’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a zest for life. His presence brought joy to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his family and friends, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

    Dear Earl & Sherry,
My heart is with both of you during this very difficult time. Losing your Dad is never easy, no matter our age, and I know the ache that comes with it.
Please know that your Dad will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and for the role he played in all our lives. I carry many memories of him, and I hold you both close in my prayers.
May you find comfort in one another, in your shared memories, and in knowing that you are deeply loved.
    With love and sympathy,
    Auntie Bituin

  3. To: Sherry and Earl, Romeo/Romy Bañez ,his brothers, sisters and I, extend our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your father, uncle Joe was the first cousin of the late Rodolfo Bañez, my father in law.We were saddened too much upon knowing his death. Even though we met him once, last July 2024, Romy and I appreciated heartily for his generosity he showed to us. He gave Romy an amount that time we met.It was such a moment unexpected for us, which he showed being an Uncle of Romy, even though they just first met in your ancestral house in Osmeña, Ormoc City. Once again, a sincere condolence to the whole family. May the Lord grant him eternal rest. We pray for his soul.
