Dorothy Bartoni

In Loving Memory

Bartoni, Dorothy M. (nee Griffith)

July 13, 1927 - September 21, 2026

Dorothy entered into eternal life surrounded by her 7 children, Monday, Sept. 21, 2026. Beloved wife of the late William C. (Bill) Bartoni; dearest mother of Michael (late Peggy), Nick, Patty (Warren) Keith, late Rick, Susie (Joe) Vollmer, Annie (Mark) Stika and Theresa.

Grandmother of 10, Great Grandmother of 24 and Great-Great Grandmother of 1; dear aunt and cousin.

As a child, she graduated from Sacred Heart School in Morrilton, Ark;  moved to St. Louis and attended Rosati Kain High School, and then went onto Depaul Nursing School and obtained an RN.

Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.  She walked to 6:30 mass daily for many, many years.

She enjoyed bowling with her friends, as well as monthly Senior Citizen luncheons, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society.

Mom loved to play cards with family and friends.  She was also known as the card lady, because she never forgot your birthday or anniversary, and always remembered the shut-ins.  Mom was the first to send you a get well note if you were sick.

She became known as the ‘Friday brownie lady’ at Milos, where you not only got a delicious brownie but more importantly a bite of her wisdom.

Our Mom was a simple person. Her faith was the guiding force for her life—a life committed to God.  She prayed her entire life that this same force would be instilled in her children and her extended family as well.

She was a devout Catholic. Be like Dorothy.

9:00 a.m. Mass, Monday, Sept. 28 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church

on The Hill. (no visitation)

Burial following mass at Jefferson Barracks.

  5. Dear Susie, your family and Joe. There are few times in life when we’re not only blessed to know you but to meet your sister and you and your Mom at Square One Brewery while you were both enjoying lunch together. I was with my sister when I saw you both not too long ago. I know your love of family and friends is a testament to your beautiful and Kind Mom, your entire family, extended families and friends. May God keep you all in his loving heart and soul as I know God lives in you. Sharing with much Love and Gratitude that I’ve met you and your Loving, Beautiful Heart and Soul lives forever in you, your family and your dear Brother Rick. ‘ Heaven, I’m in Heaven and I know my Heart can Hardly Speak, when we’re Dancing with each other Cheek to Cheek.’ I love you, Janie Comerio

  7. We can’t afford to lose people like your Mom. Good and kind doesn’t begin to describe her. I know that by the time I heard and said a prayer for her she was already in Our Lord’s arms. So the tears we shed are for us not her.

What a beautiful, sweet lady your mom was? Always smiling and had a good thing to say and never forgot your name!!! Certainly a role model for how to live a great life! I will forever remember how kind she was to everyone, especially growing up on the hill. May she rest in peace.

  9. My heart is broken on the loss of this special lady. A cherished memory was having been flower girl in Bill and Dotty’s wedding. Bill gave great hugs, and both of them were so loving. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family. I will miss seeing her at Church. “Pooba”

  13. I only knew Dorothy ‘from afar” as it were until she started sending cards to my mom when my mom went into assisted living. It was only then that I really got to know just how special she was and, between cards, she would always ask me about my mom. I will never forget her thoughtfulness. She brought so much joy to others. Now, may her joy be complete in heaven and may peace be with the entire Bartoni family.

  22. To the Bartoni Family:
I remember Dorothy Bartoni soo well! She and my Mom, Dorothy Ronzio, were tight as thieves, as scout leaders and all time fun makers! They were tireless leaders! A number of years ago, I visited with Mrs Bartoni when she lived across Wilson from my Aunt Julia Pastori. She was saying byebye to her kids and grandkids after their traditional Sunday breakfast. She was absolutely gleeful that they all continued to come over for breakfast at her house. Her smile radiated and my sympathies to the Bartoni Family who will miss that glow. I pray that your memories of your Mom, always challenging to be sure, will in time bring you peace and make you smile again.
    My Sympathy,
    Margaret Ronzio Givens
