Berner, Dr. William H. COL, USA (Ret)

Dr William H Berner, COL, USA (Ret) died at home on February 18th after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 85 years old.
He is preceded in death by his wife Phylis Hargreaves and brother Charles Berner. He is survived by his son Matthew Berner, daughter Patricia Tucker and granddaughters Kelsey Tucker and Leah Tucker, brothers Robert Berner and Dennis Berner and a host of nieces and nephews.

Dr Berner was born April 9th, 1934 to Hal Berner and Josephine Barry in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Dr Berner graduated Creighton medical school in 1959 and joined the Army shortly after. He spent nearly 27 years serving proudly. He was stationed in several foreign countries including Korea, France, Vietnam, Germany and a place he affectionately referred to as “another foreign country- Alabama.”
After retiring from the military, he moved to St Louis and continued his medical career for another 30 years working for Chrysler, Anheuser-Busch, Healthline and Cox Health in Springfield, MO before finally retiring at the age of 81.
He will be remembered by family and friends for his quick wit and elaborate storytelling and most assuredly missed by all.
SERVICES: Funeral at Kutis City Chapel, 2906 Gravois Avenue, Tuesday, March 3, 10:00 AM. Interment J.B. National Cemetery. Visitation Monday, 4:00 to
8:00 PM
