Betty was born in Fulton, Kentucky to Raymond Elliott and Louise Elliott (nee Halbert) on February 16th, 1930. She moved to St. Louis with her mother and brothers at the age of 13. She fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 at the age of 94 in her home surrounded by her family.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Genre Bert Jr.; she was the dear mother to the late Linda Sue Roberts (nee Bert), the late Randall Glenn Bert and the late Steven Ernest Bert. She was the loving mother to her surviving daughter Ellen Elaine (Rod) Yost; dear grandmother of Stefanie Christine (James) Castro, Matthew Jordan(Abby) Bert, Elizabeth Victoria “Evy”, Meredith-Emma, Benjamin Rodney and Peter Ottolini Yost; great grandmother of Jacob Steven, Hailey Christine and Ava Christine Castro; dear sister to the late Keith Elliott and the late Clark Elliott; dear sister-in-law, Aunt, great aunt, cousin, friend and nanny to many young children.
Betty was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and raised her family in the ways of the Lord. She was devoted to her church (originally the Italian Evangelical church on The Hill which then became Evangelical Full Gospel Assembly in Affton, Mo.) until she could no longer attend at the age of 90. She was a passionate Sunday School teacher of young children for many, many years. She was also a nanny to many children throughout the years. She loved children and they loved her. She loved her family and was generous with both her time and all that she had. She lived a very simplistic life and suffered many hardships from the beginning of her life until the end including the loss of her husband at the age of 52 and the loss of 3 of her children. Even through all of the trials, she never questioned the goodness of God and stayed faithful to the Lord until her dying breath.
Services: Visitation on Friday, July 19th from 4:00-8:00pm at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton. Funeral Service on Saturday, July 20th at 10am at Evangelical Full Gospel Assembly at 11011 Tesson Ferry Rd., Affton, Mo. There will be visitation at 9am until the service begins. Interment at St. Matthew’s Cemetery.
I met Betty during my time at Manor Grove where she lovingly spoke of her time caring for her , many children she cared for, who still keep in touch. Much Love Betty, As you travel on your next journey.
Ellen and Family,
Your wonderful mother, Betty, sat for our now adult children, Patrick and Kathleen. She was giving, loving, and our children loved her dearly. She spoke of her family and loved showing off photos of her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by many. May your mother’s memories be a blessing to all.
Fondly, Sandy and Bob Cannon
Thank you so much for your kind comments❤️
I am so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. My Mom, Dolores, and Betty were friends for many years. I believe they met when they were nine and still got together in their nineties! Even after my Mom passed she called and chatted with me periodically. She was a wonderful lady!
