Bess, Bob

On January 14, 2018 Bob Bess passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of Betty Bess, nee Nelson; beloved father of four daughters: Bonnie (Jim) Kimker, Barbara (Brent) Gregston, Becky (Mark) Hogan and Beverly (Steve) Mach; grandfather of ten: Bobby Williams, Bethany (Scott) Liefer, Matthew (Leanne) Gregston,  Allison Gregston, Julie (Mitch) Ogles, Christie (Billy) Puckett, Betsy (James) Brake, Meghan Mach, Matt (Katya) Mach and Peyton Mach; great-grandfather of eight: Adam and Adriana Wrzos, Charlie Liefer, Carter and Brooklyn Gregston, Chapman and Caroline Ogles, and Hogan Puckett; cousin and special friend to many.

Bob was always an active member of his city and community, and supported various causes and organizations with his time and service. He served as alderman and mayor of Crestwood, and later as trustee of Grantwood Village; he volunteered for many years with Saint Louis Ambassadors, the St. Patrick’s Day Committee, the Mardi Gras Committee, Fair St. Louis  Foundation, and StepUp St. Louis.

In 2012, Bob was honored as an ‘Ageless Remarkable Citizen’ for his dedication and service. Above all, his greatest passion and commitment in volunteering was with The BackStoppers where he served for one year as president, and 15 years as  treasurer. Bob also loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at his lake house.

In memory of our father we encourage each of you to live  every day to the fullest, and to start each day with an act of kindness.
