Mary Ann “Annie” Birmingham (nee Fahndrich), born February 21, 1937, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 89.
She is survived by daughters Debra Duffin, Diane (Howard Wong) Duffin, son Daniel (Lisa) Duffin, daughter-in-law Vicki Duffin, stepdaughter Cynthia (late Russell) Berryman and stepdaughter-in-law Deborah Birmingham; grandchildren Matthew Duffin, Nicholas (Sara) Bruno, Danielle (Jeffrey) Woods, Shannon (Jay) Galmiche, Hayley (Nicholas) Chiodini, Taylor (Craig Cantwell ) Duffin, Marina Duffin, Jordan Wong, and Tyler Wong; step-grandchildren Andrew (Kate) Berryman, Thomas (Natalie) Birmingham, and Rachael (Jimmy) Patterson, eleven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray Birmingham, her sister Joan (John) Remelius, her son Dennis Duffin, her stepson Steve Birmingham, and her step- grandson Matthew Berryman.
Mary Ann was born and lived her entire life in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Cleveland High School, and spent most of her working life in the insurance business. She was a life-long and faithful member of the United Church of Christ, most recently attending St. Paul’s UCC in Oakville.
She loved her big, blended family, her many friends, dogs (especially dachshunds), and baseball (especially Cardinals). And travel. During their 15 years together “Annie” and Ray made 75 trips out of town, to a racetrack, usually.
An enthusiastic “early adopter,” Mary Ann embraced change. She appreciated anything new and different: a change of scenery, the latest gizmo, rearranged furniture. New friends. And new connections with old ones.
More than anything, Mary Ann loved to laugh; she was everybody’s best audience. Those of us remaining behind, left to cope with this big hole in our lives, will remember that laugh.
SERVICES: a VISITATION will be held on Wednesday, July 8 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. FUNERAL SERVICE will be on Thursday, July 9 at 9:00 am. Burial to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pathways Hospice Foundation or Feed My People food pantry.
Sorry to hear of Mary Ann’s passing. I have fond memories of her during Diane and my years in Job’s Daughters. Then teaching and coaching Taylor and Marina and hanging with their parents. Sending hugs and prayers to the entire family.
So sad to learn of Mary Ann’s passing. She was always kind and caring to our family. She will be remembered with love and a smile.

1950-54, especially with the forming of Chi Lambda Chi sorority. Those memories will always be good. We will meet again soon.
