Loving wife of 69 years to the late Pete (Robert) D. Bishop. Loving mother of Mike (Laura) Bishop, Kevin (Lisa) Bishop. Cherished Grandmother to her grandsons, whom they were her pride and joy, Mikey, Drew, Cody, Jack and Ryan Bishop. She also was a step grandmother to four children; Erin, Jeane, Lauren and Joey. Born on May 2nd, 1937 in Salem, MO, she was the daughter of Vernon and Lucille Hodges (nee Shineman) and younger sister to Patricia Bunch (nee Hodges).
Barb was a devoted wife to Pete, sharing a partnership built on love, respect, and shared dreams. Their journey began as classmates at Houston High School, from which Barb graduated in 1955. Together, they enjoyed traveling, creating lasting memories as they explored new places and experienced life’s adventures hand in hand.
As a mother to her sons, Mike and Kevin, Barb instilled values of kindness, strength, and resilience. Her love knew no bounds, and she took great pride in supporting her sons in every endeavor, always cheering them on through life’s challenges. As a grandmother, she cherished her role, creating lasting memories with her grandchildren, always ready with a story, a hug, or a plate of homemade treats.
Barb had a unique talent for conversation and loved to engage everyone in lively discussions. Whether sharing family history or the latest news about her grandchildren, she made every conversation feel meaningful—even if it sometimes included a repeat story with some extra length. Her famous brownies were a staple at every family gathering, eagerly enjoyed by all, and will forever be known as “Barb’s brownies.”
Though she has left this world, Barb’s love and spirit will remain in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will inspire us to live with the same joy and dedication she shared every day.
Celebration of life for Barb will be announced soon.
Sorry for your loss, Barb was indeed a wonderful lady who raised a great family! Our thoughts and prayers to Mike, Kevin and all family and friends of Barb’s 🙏

Susan and I will miss Barbara and her great wit. We always enjoyed our visits with Barb and Pete. They were more older brother and sister than aunt and uncle. She and Pete raised wonderful sons who will miss her but have great memories of her love.
