Michael Robert Blaha, 64, died Sunday, February 18 after a brief fight against cancer. Mike left this world way too early and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Brian, and father Robert. He leaves behind his loving wife Jean of 40 years, daughter Karen, son-in-law Theron, mother Ann, brother Jim, and sister Elaine.
He was especially proud of his marriage to Jean and took great pride in the Ph.D. achievements of his son, daughter, and son-in-law.
Mike was a sensitive and loving husband and father who took great interest in his family and home life. He had a strong sense of humor and brought positive energy and outlook in his personal and professional life.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Mike was an extremely intelligent individual obtaining a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Washington University. He was an expert in database design and modeling running his own company helping clients throughout the world and in many industries. He was the author of seven different books on computer science which today are still used as textbooks and technical references throughout the industry.
Mike also had a passion for athletics and outdoor activities even though he was not the most proficient athlete. He greatly enjoyed outdoor biking and racquetball and some of his closest friends are his racquetball and fraternity buddies. A longtime friend of special note is Mike Effinger.
Mike, we will cherish our time with you and your memories will be an integral part of our lives forever!

SERVICES: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON CHAPEL 10151 Gravois Road, Thursday, February 22, 5:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Private interment.
