  3. Popo was the greatest grandfather anyone could ask for. He’s someone I try to strive to be like every day. He was and still is one of the biggest role models in my life. He always knew what to say when anyone needed comfort and was someone who you could confide in. He was also the wisest man I ever knew.

  15. I met Rev. Wayne while working at Royale Orleans! He officiated many weddings there. He was like family to all of us that work at Royale Orleans. When my own dad passed away, Wayne graciously offered to officiate my dad’s service. Without ever meeting or knowing my dad, he spoke with such love and comfort. I also had the opportunity to take some square dancing classes with him. He had such a fun sense of humor and supported all of us gals in the class. Rev. Wayne will always hold a special place in our hearts! Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, who he spoke of often and loved so much.

  21. The world has lost a great man. Devoted friend, mentor, confidante, and my only cousin on the Meehan side. With the extreme sadness of Wayne’s passing, I also remember great childhood memories, visiting Uncle Wayne and Aunt Annie on Schaeffer pl., playing ping pong, listening to music, dancing..great fun and always a full buffet of Food late at night.
Wayne was always thinking of others, even selling his home so Laura and Chris wouldn’t have to deal with that process.
Wayne was extremely smart, excelling at CBC (Christian brothers college), his parents were extremely proud of Wayne. We all were.
We should all strive to have the qualities Wayne had!
This would be a better, kinder, more compassionate world. I will miss him in so many ways.

  23. My sincerest sympathies to Laura ,Christine and your families on the loss of a beautiful man.
I can see you are all well aware of your good fortune to have had such a good man in your lives. We should all be so fortunate. And we were, as members of St. Bernadette Parish. I will always remember the words of his homily, “love is not a feeling, love is a choice we make”.

  26. Our deepest sympathy and prayers of comfort to the family of Wayne, who touched so many lives by his friendship and love, including our family. We were fortunate to know him and love him while he served as deacon at St. Bernadette Parish. Wayne was a wonderful friend to my mother and brought her much joy during the many visits to her home. He was a source of hope and comfort during our difficult times when faced with family members’ illnesses and deaths. Our family will be forever grateful for his love and compassion he gave so selflessly. Heaven is blessed to have him.

  27. Micah 6:8 says….“What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love kindly, and to walk humbly with your God.” Deacon Wayne lived his life following these simple principals. What a blessing he was to us at St. Bernadette. . My family is forever grateful for his kindness, love, and friendship. When Irish eyes are smiling, Sure tis like the morn in Spring, In the lilt of Irish laughter you can hear the Angels sing….Godspeed dear friend

  30. To Wayne’s family – our condolences on your loss. To this day, even though this occurred many years ago, whenever we hear the gospel of the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus, we mention Wayne’s homily on that topic, from when he was a deacon at SJA. It was one of the most memorable homilies we were ever fortunate enough to hear. A very kind and humble man who will be missed.

    Sincerely,

  34. Please accept my sincere sympathy at your loss of Deacon Wayne. I go back a long way. He was so special to me and my family. He was so kind to my grandson who went to Southview School. He went out of his way to be helpful. I will miss delivering my Christmas cookies to him during the holidays. He will be sorely missed.
