In Loving Memory

Buhr, Sharon Ethelee

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, Sharon Ethelee (Thompson) Buhr, loving wife and mother of nine children, passed away at the age of 81. Sharon was born on July 3, 1938 in St Louis, MO to Charles Norton Thompson and Charlotte Marie (Mueller) Thompson.  On December 26, 1958, she married (Deacon)Thomas Anthony Buhr, Sr.  They raised nine children, Mary Michelle, Thomas Anthony Jr, Stacy Gerette, Stephanie Anne, Nancee Jean, Chrissie Cosgrove, John Thomas, Donesha Marie and Daphney Anne.  Sharon and Tom also took in hundreds of foster children into their homes and their hearts through Catholic Charities agency and later the Division of Family Services.

Sharon learned to sew at the age of 13 from her grandmother, Hannah Thompson, and had a passion for sewing all her life right up to the end. She showed how much she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with many outfits, dolls, aprons, just to name a few.  Sharon was an entrepreneur.  Sharon, her mother and her sister, Nancy (Thompson) Ginnever opened a craft shop, called Grandma’s Folly and Grandma’s Cookies, on historic Main Street in St Charles, MO.  They managed this shop from 1974 until 2000. If Sharon had a choice with what to do in a day, she would be perfectly happy to just rock a baby in her arms.  She was known for her faith, her infectious smile, compassion, her kind charity to all and her devotion to her husband, family and to our Lord.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and her parents, Charles and Charlotte. She is survived by her sister and two brothers, her nine children, her 23 grandchildren, her 14 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sharon’s arrangements are on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The visitation is at 9:30-10:30am, the funeral Mass is at 11am and a luncheon reception is immediately after the funeral Mass.  All are being held at St Joseph Catholic Parish Center at 555 St Joseph Lane, Manchester, MO 63021.

In lieu of flowers Sharon would love donations to be made to: St Augustine Outreach Center, c/o Fr Bob Gettinger 1371 Hamilton Ave, St Louis, MO 63112.
