Marilyn Burke 1

In Loving Memory

Burke, Marilyn Sue (nee Horton)

July 26, 1937 - September 28, 2024

Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on September 28, 2024.  Born July 26, 1937 to the late Charles Horton and Ann (Andres) Horton. Preceded in death by her husband, William Burke. She is survived by her loving children, Stacy York of Roanoke, VA, and Bill York (Anke) of Kaiserslautern, Germany; her sisters Pat Nevins of Springfield, IL, Sharon Pahde (John) of Affton, MO, Peggy Ellerbusch Mueller of Ballwin, MO, and sister-in-law Trecea Horton of Benton, AR. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Horton, and sisters Darleen Mueller and Marie Hupert.

Marilyn attended Beaumont High School, St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1955. She worked as a secretary for the St. Louis Union Trust Company, Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany and retired from Newport News Shipbuilders in 1999. Marilyn was a Healing Touch Practitioner. She loved ballroom dancing, carpentry projects, and music (especially John Denver). Marilyn loved being with her large family more than anything. Her nieces and nephews remember her as accepting, true, caring, kind, thoughtful, genuine, elegant, graceful, faithful, full of joy, gracious, spiritual, selfless, and giving. She was a quiet and gentle woman, always with a smile to share. Marilyn was a resident of Mary Culver Home since June of 2023. This was her happy place because of the loving and caring staff.

Special thanks to the Mercy Hospice team who was there for Marilyn and her family.
