Cheek, Robert Carson

Mr. Cheek attended Cleveland High School, graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Bob honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Cheek was a popular band instructor and director in the Webster Groves School District for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He also taught at Hixson Middle School as well as  other elementary schools. Bob was a man of tall physical and mental  stature, strong and principled convictions and unwavering dignity. In addition to being a patient and proficient band instructor for thousands of students, Bob was a scholarly student of American history and related biographies. Bob’s lifelong commitment to students carried over to his being a devoted attendee at his grandchildren’s academic performances and athletic events.

Bob is survived by two sons and two grandchildren, Christopher of Brooklyn, NY and Jonathan (Stacey) of High Ridge and their children, Sydney and Carson and also by Christopher and Jonathan’s mother, Judy Cheek.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., on Thursday, August 18, 11 a.m. until service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Humane Society of MO, appreciated.  Interment J.B. National  Cemetery.
