Chitwood, Victor S.

January 15, 1945 - March 5, 2024

Victor S. Chitwood, of High Ridge, Mo. age 79 passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2024 at the St. Sophia Skilled Nursing Home in Florissant, Mo. Victor was born on January 15th, 1945 in Ironton, Mo. His parents were Obediah and Maude (nee Sanders) Chitwood, who predeceased him.

Victor retired from The U S Navy after serving 20 years active duty. During his service he worked in Naval Air and spent some of his time time on the aircraft Carrier U S S Kitty Hawk. He retired from active duty and entered the reserves and retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

Victor leaves behind his wife of 13 years, Sandra Maria Chitwood (nee Tichacek). Before his illness, they lived in Florida for 12 years.

Victor was preceded in death by Donna J. Chitwood, beloved mother of their 3 sons. Surviving are his sons Steven Chitwood (wife Pamela), Brian Chitwood (wife Brenda) and Mark Chitwood. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren Stephanie, Kelsey, Jeffrey, Jenna, Courtney, Andrew and Bryce. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Lyla, Arthur and Axel.

Over the years Victor was an avid motorcycle rider, bicycle rider and fisherman. He enjoyed several years of traveling in his RV. Victor especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s athletic games, going out to eat and watching the news.

Services: Kutis Affton Chapel; We invite friends and family to attend his service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Thursday, March 14th at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers , we ask that memorial contributions be made online to the Salvation Army or to the Alzheimer’s research.
