March 24, 2024, Carole Elizabeth Claeys, at the age of 85, passed peacefully in the company of loved ones. Born April 1, 1938, in Saint Louis, Missouri, Carole influenced the lives of many with her kind demeanor, charitable nature, and loyalty to the church. Carole was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
October 31, 1959, Carole married Edward E. Claeys with whom she created a family of five children. In addition to her immense dedication to family, Carole discovered joy in numerous hobbies. She was renowned for her specialized skills in sewing and baking as well as her interests in reading, thrifting, and puzzle solving. To think of Carole is to think of her passion for the St. Louis Cardinals which spawned an eternal love for the color red.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph, and siblings: Celeste (Bob), Joseph (Jan), Patrick, and Gerald.
She is survived by her husband (Edward Claeys) of 64 years, five children: Christine (Jim), Michelle, Susan, Edward (Kathy), and Eric as well as 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and sister-in-laws Dorothy (Gerald) and Gloria (Patrick) and brother-in-laws Robert (Joan), Phillip (Aurelia) and Gene (Gosia).
Carole’s legacy of beauty, sincerity, faith, and love will continue to thrive in those fortunate to have known her. Carole’s sweet presence will be missed, yet so fondly remembered on behalf of family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 9:45 a.m. followed by an Interment at J.B. National Cemetery for immediate family and a luncheon at the Assumption Catholic Church for all family and friends.
