Cobler, Robert C.

Cobler, Robert C., passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 101. Robert was a proud World War II Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Salt Lake City, a heavy cruiser in the Pacific.

He spent much of his career as a sales manager for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Later, he moved to Philadelphia, where he joined his brother in the insurance and investment business.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lela W. Cobler, children Craig Cobler (Ann), Sandy Overkamp (Bob), David Lichtenstein
(Stephanie), Davida Grindstaff and Matt Lichtenstein (Laurie); grandchildren Clayton Cobler (Emily), Carrie Cobler, Ryan Overkamp,
Glennon Overkamp, Kyle Lichtenstein, Minuette Layer; and great-grandchildren Cadence and Caleb Cobler.

Service: A procession will depart from Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, on Wednesday, August 19, 10:00 a.m., traveling to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a 10:30 a.m. service.

  1. We were a neighbor of Bob enjoyed seeing Bob very good sense of humor and a kind man. We had some happy hours in his garage where he would have his drink and smoke his cigar. We were very lucky to have known him.
