Joe Colvin, born in Waverly, Illinois in 1937 to Alonzo and Golda Colvin, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Donna Joyce Colvin (née Taylor) and Evelyn Colvin (née Miller). He was a devoted and loving father to Scott (Amee) Colvin, Amy (Sean) Devanny, and Sara Colvin, and the adoring grandfather of Corinne and Landon Colvin. He was a cherished brother to the late Mary Jean, Walter “Punch,” and John, and a dear brother in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
A man of deep character and steady kindness, he lived a life rich with connection, service, and simple joys. He loved to fish and treasured the many fishing trips he took with friends over the years. Golf brought him joy, as did a good meal shared with people he cared about. He enjoyed sudoku puzzles, watching St. Louis Cardinals games, poker nights with friends and the quiet contentment of everyday routines.
His commitment to service was a defining part of his life. He spent many years actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, helping countless young people achieve their Eagle Scout rank. He traveled to Philmont four times, embracing the physical and mental challenge with enthusiasm and pride.
Faith was central to his life. As a long time member of Green Trails United Methodist Church, he served as Chair of Trustees, participated in United Methodist Men, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and found joy and meaning in Bible study.
Professionally, he dedicated his entire career to McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, where he was known for his hard work, integrity, and success.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his steady presence, his love of the outdoors, and the way he poured himself into his family, his faith, and his community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he instilled.
Memorial Service Sunday, October 11, 1:00 p.m. at Green Trails United Methodist Church 14237 Ladue Rd. Chesterfield, Mo. 63017. Interment at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Il. will be held at a later date.

Very, very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing, he was always so very gentle and kind in personality.
At John 11:11 Jesus spoke of death as being asleep, so it’s comforting to remember that there is no pain or suffering experienced when we are in a deep sleep.
Joe has the hope of being resurrected back to life again based upon what we read at John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15.

I met Bobby Joe in 1943 in the 1st grade. He “moseyed” on with us for 12 years and I never saw him mad, never had a bad thing to say about other people and would anyone who needed. One of my fondest memories of him is when we were moving an old, long unused outhouse with him riding in the back of the truck trying to keep the door from flying off. Take all the great memories you have of him and hold them close and cherish them all and I know you all have many of those great memories. I always enjoyed visiting with Joe at the Colvin Reunions and he gave me some good info here and there on Colvin family ancestry. I have you all in my thoughts and prayers.
