Dorothy Lee Connelly went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday February 10, 2021 at the age of 91. The devoted daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Connelly, Dorothy was born June 5, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL. She was the cherished sister of the late Eva (Emory) Murphy, Betty Ragsdale, and Phyllis (Allen) Feltz. She was the adored Aunt of Robert Murphy, Terry (Mary Anne) Ragsdale, Timothy (Theresa) Ragsdale, the late Gregory Ragsdale, Jonathan (Joan) Ragsdale, Nathan (Elaine) Ragsdale, Dianne (Paul) Marchant and David (Mary) Feltz. She was the much loved Great-Aunt of Rachael (Matt) Springmeyer, Andrew (Amanda) Ragsdale, Joshua Ragsdale, Sarah (Tim) Brooks, Benjamin (Julia) Marchant, Jacob Ragsdale, Joseph Feltz, Daniel Feltz, Abigail Ragsdale, Amy Ragsdale and Anna Feltz. She was the ‘honorary’ Great-Aunt of Robert Marchant. She was Great-great Aunt to the children of Rachel (Matt) Springmeyer and Andrew (Amanda) Ragsdale. She was the cousin and friend to many.
Having received her BS in Education at Washington University St. Louis, and Masters of Elementary Education and Masters in Library Science from George Peabody College for Teachers, Dorothy spent her career in the public schools system as an elementary teacher, library cataloger, and high school librarian.
She was a devout Christian. In the course of her lifetime she was a member at Lafayette Park Baptist, LaSalle Baptist, Compton Heights Baptist, Tower Grove Baptist, Kingshighway Baptist, and First Baptist Church of Lemay. Dorothy served in primary education, countless Vacation Bible Schools, summer camps, and senior adult education. She regularly served as church librarian and a pianist as need. She was a dedicated student of regular Bible Study. She had a lifelong love of books and learning. She adored children and shared her love of reading and her love for the Lord Jesus with them.
She will be greatly missed and treasured always in our hearts.
Private Services will be held at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road.
