I am so sorry to be reading this. When I lived in St. Louis we would go to the bars and I moved back to Georgia but kept in touch with her on Facebook. Praying for her family for peace in the days to come. I will miss our talks and all the good times we had.❤️
Velma Jean was always in my life because we were first cousins and our families got together frequently when we were kids. She was older, so I always wanted to be like her. Velma Jean was fun, witty, honest and no nonsense. She had sparkling eyes and a feisty temperament like her redheaded granddad, Walter Napoleon Crain. People loved Velma Jean and her energy. She had spunk, an infectious laugh, and a big heart. She was a dedicated worker/employee, she played hard and she loved her family hard. She called me ‘Cuz’ while I liked to call her Velma Jean. I loved her name. Velma Jean grew up with parents who were deeply committed to their faith and as the years passed, Velma Jean became a woman who spoke openly about her faith. She was ready to meet her Maker. Now that Velma Jean has left this world, we do not grieve like those without hope. We have hope because Velma Jean Crain Crook is with The Lord, reunited with her parents, grandparents and many loved ones. She will be greatly missed. I love you Cuz.

I’ll miss running into you while we were out shopping. You always recognized me, no matter how much time had passed, and never missed the chance to tell me that my dad Kirby and my grandpa Ray were the best, and that I was one lucky girl. Those conversations always made me smile, and they’re memories I’ll cherish forever.
Rest peacefully, Aunt Velma. You will always be remembered with love.
Velma Jean heaven open the doors wide to welcome a Beautiful loving woman to give you your wings. God only takes the best and you were diff the best. You were a woman who wore her heart on her sleeve, a woman who wore a smile always, a woman who everyone loved and most of all a woman who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. Velma was one of the Best Ladies I had ever met in my life. We met thru BFI and stayed friends/family all these years. Velma & Mike shared the same Birthday Sept. 17th
That is why they loved each other so much.

I had the pleasure of meeting Velma through my sister Judy Barbier many years ago when they both lived in South St. Louis and through my late husband Harvey’s long friendship with her. Velma also became known as my big sister even though she was little in stature. We’ve lost a wonderful little gal and God has gained another angel. We love you and you will be very missed. May God give strength to her beautiful family and long time friends. A candle has been lit in her memory.
I am still in shock and so sad that I can’t give that lady a hug again. Condolences to her family and friends. She will always be in our hearts and deeply missed. A true fireball that we love so much!!
I am so sad and shocked. I met precious Velma many years ago. My childhood friend Judy Barbier was a friend of Velma. My heart and love is with her family. God has gained another angel. She will be missed.

(My nickname for her) I wanted to share the latest with her! Our lives were intertwined! She was more than a friend. We were sisters from another mother.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family! Velma was my dad’s cousin from the Crain side. She was always very sweet and had something positive to say. I am so sorry for your loss!

I met Velma Jean years ago bc her & my daddy LeRoy were 1st Cousins. I found out that she lived in Saint Louis close to my son. So when I would go see my son, I would visit Velma Jean.. I loved her lots and lots. Such a beautiful lady inside and out.! I’m going to dearly miss her. So grateful I got to meet her and conversate quite often.! Daddy talked about her often. I met Velma when I moved in the apartment next to her at National Church Residence. We became really good friends right away. She was the sweetest person I ever knew. I only got to share her friendship for 2 1/2 years. I will cherish every day I got to spend with her . I just wish it would have been a little longer. I miss you and love you my sweet friend. I had known Velma for the past 8 years as I was the property manager at the apartments where she lived.
Velma was quite a person and always looked out for others every chance she got. She was a very special person that I was able to get to know

I met Velma when I transferred from BFI in Houston to Little York. I worked with Rita McFadden who was a close friend with Velma. Had many lunches together. Velma was a friend of all. I loved her as I am sure everyone else did. My condolences to her family.
