We are deeply saddened as we say goodbye to Ronald W. Croom; a family man and friend who loved with every part of his life. He peacefully left this world on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Ron was born on February 3, 1947, and was an only child to Roland and Betty Croom of St. Louis, MO. Ron graduated from Afton High School, where he met the love of his life, Marlene Widman.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. After his military service, Ron married Marlene and together they raised their two sons, Richard and Scott. Not long after, Ron began a career at Anheuser Busch, where he worked for 32 years until his retirement.
For all his life, the family farm in Ste. Genevieve was his favorite place in the world. The farm wasn’t just land to him — it was love, a place of peace, and where family and friends gathered to hunt and make forever memories.
After the passing of Marlene in 2019, his favorite place of all times, was in his boat fishing or on his front porch at the lake. He would sit for hours feeding his birds and visiting with friends and family. When not outside, he spent time in his chair with a soft blanket. He was rarely alone as his dog or one of his favorite kiddos snuggled up close.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Croom; father, Roland Croom; wife, Marlene Croom and is survived by sons, Richard (Kelly) and Scott (Sarah); grandchildren, Dawson, Nora Grace, Ashley, Melissa, Gabby; great-grandchild, Adalyn
We will gather to celebrate Ron’s life with a Visitation on Sunday, November 9, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Kutis Funeral Home. Monday, November 10, funeral services will begin at 9:30 at Kutis Funeral Home. Then, we will proceed to Jefferson Barracks, where Ron will be honored with military honors.
