Mary Ann Daniel

In Loving Memory

Daniel, Mary Ann (nee Wilson)

August 26, 1931 - August 2, 2025

Survived by her children, Diane Whitaker, Robert Daniel (Susan), Helen Meurer (Christopher), and Luisa Figliola (Robert) and her grandchildren Lewis Daniel, Elise Phillips (Steven), Sarah Daniel, Davis Jonland (Christine Odegi), Sophia Figliola, and Isabella Figliola.  Predeceased by her husband, Lewis Edgar Daniel II.

Mary Ann grew up an “Army Brat”.  She moved every two years on average and lived in family housing across the country, including Hawaii and Alaska.  She was proud of going to China with her family exactly 50 years before the opening up of China by President Nixon.

Mary Ann holds bachelor’s degrees from Southeast Missouri State in English, History, and French. She has an MBA from Indiana University where she met her husband Ed, walking to class.

Ed’s first job took them to La Crosse, WI where Diane and Bob were born, and where they made many life-long friends. A job change took them to St. Louis where Helen was born. Another job change took them back to Wisconsin where Lulu was born. In 1982, they traded their house for the Bay View Motel in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Mary Ann worked very hard managing hotel operations as well as checking guests in and out with a smile. She was likely relieved to build their house “The Last Resort” when they retired to Arkansas. They were just about to move into “The Last Last Resort”, a condo in Branson, when Ed had a stroke and Mary Ann was unable to take care of him. Instead of moving into the condo, they moved to Laclede Groves in St. Louis where Mary Ann sat by Ed’s side for 9 years. After Ed’s passing, Mary Ann continued to live there for another 13 years. During Mary Ann’s time at Laclede Groves she participated in numerous volunteer activities. Most notably, she ran “Wise Buys”.

Throughout her years she loved spending time with family and friends. She was especially happy on the water including countless hours near where the Mississippi begins and then later at several lakes throughout the Ozarks. As she grew older, she enjoyed visits from family members, hearing about their academic and athletic prowess, and even daring to participate in races herself once or twice.

Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered by her family and family friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the EverTrue Lutheran Senior Services Foundation.
